It is a three-peat victory for the Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) after exhibiting a perfect passing rate once again in the Physician Licensure Examination this September.

Thirteen graduates of the MMSU College of Medicine (COM) hurdled the examination administered by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), surpassing the national average which stood at 70.12 percent.

The successful examinees are doctors Ethell Maine G. Alipio, Danah Mae R. Arzadon, Rachelle J. Bocoboc, Katheryne S. Castillo, Jenny P. Conception, Yvonny D. Covadez, Gianfranco Emmanuel M. Doloroso, Ma. Lynnuelle Faye P. Erojo, Jhicel Y. Ibañez, Eleanor Joyce R. Magallanes, Wilen Grace M. Mina, Hanani Hope B. Miguel, and Danielle B. Quigao.

They were among the 1,084 who passed out of 1,546 examinees across the country. They took the test in Baguio, Cagayan De Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legazpi, Lucena, Tacloban and Zamboanga. PRC released the results on September 24.

University President Shirley C. Agrupis congratulated the graduates for “sustaining the highest bar of excellence” by posting another perfect passing rate in the said examination.

“We wish you a most rewarding career in medicine and a blessed life of service as channels of God’s healing hands,” she expressed.

With this consistent performance, Agrupis said the young college now stands among the medical education powerhouses in the country.

Meanwhile, Dr. Ricardo S. Guanzon, COM dean, thanked the university administration, COM faculty and staff, and the college’s partner-hospitals, the Mariano Marco Memorial Hospital and Medical Center and Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC), for their unwavering efforts in honing the new doctors from MMSU.

Agrupis also expressed gratitude to the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) chaired by Dr. J. Prospero De Vera III and the MMSU Board of Regents led by Dr. Lilian De Las Llagas for their support in upgrading the COM facilities and laboratories; the authors of Doktor ng Bayan Bill for always including MMSU as recipients of the provisions of the law; and to its consultants, doctors Joven Cuanang and Marietta Baccay, for their constant support to the college.

The six-year-old lone medical school in Ilocos Norte first posted a whopping 100% rating in November 2020 and repeated the same performance in March 2021. (StratCom)
